The "Blacksburg" radio release
Den Hollinden's new single "Blacksburg" was created in memory of the students and faculty who lost their lives in the Virginia Tech tragedy. The newly-mastered cut left the studio for manufacturing on April 16, 2008, the one-year anniversary of the tragedy. "Blacksburg" was fully live at major digital retail on June 12 and on the same day made available to radio via AirPlay Direct. Since that day, we've been making country, Americana and compatible-genre radio aware of the release; so, they can add the cut to their station playlists. In addition to being a must-hear release for radio listeners, a portion of the proceeds from digital downloads of the song will be donated to a Virginia Tech charity. The result is a situation where radio is breaking a great country song, performing a service to their listening public and contributing to a great cause, all by simply spinning one song--"Blacksburg." |
